If you're looking for the place where time stood still for decades, even centuries, you just found it and it's called Breb!

We are a Romanian family who will welcome you to this hundred years old traditional wooden house, saved and restored in one of the most authentic villages in Romania. This is not just an accommodation! This is a unique experience and you should not let yourself miss it.

The name of the cottage is given after the old man who used to live in it before he passed away several years back. It was Piștău's cottage and that's the way it shall be known for ever. We kept it authentic with most of its old parts intact, while also giving it the comfort and amenities all guests need and appreciate.

The space

Casa lu’ Pistau has 3 bedrooms with a Queen size bed each, a shared bathroom, a kitchen and a big porch with three beautiful benches. One of the bedrooms has also an old traditional rocking crib and the house has also a playroom full of toys, because we love kids and want to make all families feel perfectly comfortable with their children while staying in Breb.

Casa lu' Stefan has 2 bedrooms with a Queen size bed (1.60 m) and a single bed each, a shared bathroom, a kitchen and a big porch with a beautiful traditional bench where you can relax and admire the rural landscape.

The host

I'm a family man who moved back to the village to chase the childhood memories and the good life of the countryside. I invite you to visit me and my family, stay and eat in one of our old traditional wooden houses and have a taste of the incredibly full and happy life of Breb, our beloved village in Maramures. :) We will welcome you with hospitality and introduce you to the great life of the Maramures countryside. We love to interact with our guests and present them with the best of what the village can provide.

Meals

We recommend you try also our traditional Romanian restaurant, located close by, called Casa lu' Dochia, to have a full and unforgettable experience. Our food is all natural made with local ingredients from farm to table. Our Cook was born in the village and learned her craft from her mother. All our guests will get 20% discount at breakfast and children bellow 10 years of age will have breakfast for free.

Activities

The village is a great natural and authentic place. Explore it by foot or let us know if you want to book a horse and carriage to make it more memorable. Close by there's a lake, a mountain and miles and miles of green and wild countryside - we suggest hiking or mountain biking.

Cazarea perfecta in Breb! Case minunate, in stilul autentic maramureșean, dar cu facilități moderne (de ex. încălzire in pardoseala), bucataria complet utilata! Atentia la detalii deosebita, iar curatenia a fost impecabila! Pozitionarea foarte buna, iar gazdele sunt foarte primitoare si deschise! Zona merita vizitata si explorata, recomand o sedere de cel putin 3-4 nopți!

Ne-am simtit foarte bine

Toată perioada în care am stat acolo a fost foarte bună. Chiar dacă afară a fost rece și în ziua întoarcerii spre casă a nins, ne-am simțit foarte bine în Breb. Am rezervat inițial Casa lu Piștău pentru 2 nopți și în ziua următoare am reușit să prelungim șederea încă o noapte. Casa arată ca în poze. Frumos amenajată și în interior, cu paturi mari în fiecare din cele 3 dormitoare. N-a plăcut mult amenajarea. Spațiul de joacă, deși pare mic, a fost preferatul copiilor. Și în bucătărie aveam aproape totul. Lipsea zahărul, dar am vorbit cu domnul Marius și dimineață am avut 1 kilogram de zahăr la ușă. Ni l-a pus seara pe la 22, dar noi pregăteam de culcare picii. Prima zi, prânzul l-am servit la o doamnă din sat, de lângă biserica nouă care se vede de la intrarea în sat. Doamna Maria, cu care aveau ei o înțelegere pentru când le era restaurantul închis ne-a făcut o mâncare a fost foarte bună. Micul dejun și cina le serveam in casă, folosit uneltele lor și alimentele care le-am luat cu noi. Tot în prima zi, am mers la magazinul satului și apoi ne-am mai plimbat pe străzile de pământ. La magazin găsești multe, mai puțin lapte pasteurizat și produse lactate din comerț. Doar lactate produse în gospodărie. A doua zi am mers la Săpânța și am mâncat la un han găsit în drum. Seara am mers toți 4 la gospodăria unde este magazinul să vadă fata cea mare cum dă vaca lapte. Acolo, în același grajd erau și 3 purcei care au fost atracția copiilor. ???? În ziua plecării spre casa, am servit micul dejun la restaurantul din incinta complexului: Casa lu Dochia. Pe drum proprietarul caselor și a restaurantului ne-a sunat să ne întrebe cum ne-a plăcut la ei. Au fost 4 zile minunate în Breb. Sperăm să mai ajungem si vara pe acolo.
