Casa Bătrână is an old traditional wooden house, restored with an eye for tradition and e feel for the demands of the modern traveler.
The house is located in the secluded village of Zece Hotare, in the Padurea Craiului Mountains. Built somewhere in the 1930s , this is one of the oldest wooden houses still standing in the village. Hence the name, “Casa Bătrână”, which literally means “the old house.
Together with Casa Stramba, Casa Marie-Jose and Dolina Glamping, make for our small vacation park, Dolina Village.
Padurea Craiului Mountains are the north-western part of the larger Apuseni Mountains and are a exellent destination for nature lovers. Whether you love long, easy walks in the nature or are and adventurer going for rafting or rock climbing, this region has it all. Because these are limestone mountains, you can put caves on the list of spectacular sights of the area.
Among the more popular caves here are the Meziad Cave and the Wind Cave (Vântului). Zece Hotare is a secluded hamlet, tucked in between the forests and hills of the Zece Hoare Plateau. Casa Bătrână lays five minutes away from the heart of the village, where you can find a tiny grocery store for basic products.
The closest village with a trainstation and bigger store is Suncuius, within seven kilometers from the lodge. The closest airports are the ones in Cluj and Oradea.
Casa Bătrână can host up to four people in two rooms. The bedroom is equipped with a confortable double bed and the living-room/kitchen has an extendable sofa-bed with good matresses. On request, we can provide a baby-bed.
The bathroom with shower is placed between the two rooms. In the cold season, we use wood to warm up the house. The small fireplace in the kitchen is connected to the floor heating, running through the whole house.
In the kitchen you will find all you need to prepare a proper meal: dishes, gas burner, a fridge with freezer. A dishwasher is also available. Outside, you can use the provided BBQ.
Upon arrival, the fridge will be filled with local suplies for breakfast such as fresh cheese, eggs, vegetables, milk. The exact type of food will depend on the season. On request, we can organize lunch or dinner at local homes or get the local cooks to deliver traditonal menus at the house.
Zece Hotare is accesible by car via Suncuius. The last two kilometers to the house are gravel road. The road is in good state thus accesible for (almost) all cars and motorcycles.
Parking is on the grass, on a plateau at 100m distance from the house. On request we can pick you up from the trainstations in Suncuius or Bratca or the airports in Cluj and Oradea.
