Castelul Maria – A Garden Retreat in the Heart of Transylvania
Castelul Maria welcomed its first guests at the turn of the millennium, for New Year 2000. What began as an intimate place to stay in the Transylvanian village of Banpotoc gradually became a small world of hospitality, shaped by nature, art, food and the joy of bringing people together.
A decade later, we created Casa Maria – The Breath of Poetry, a second house in the same village, just 800 metres away, designed especially for families, friends and small groups who wish to spend meaningful time together.
Today, the two houses share the same story, but offer two different ways of staying.
At Castelul Maria, guests can choose between three individually designed suites and a romantic room in the tower. Around the house stretches a 7,000 m² garden with old trees, flowers, quiet corners, birds and cats — a garden meant to be lived in, rather than simply admired.
Breakfast, home-cooked dinners by reservation, a Finnish sauna overlooking the garden, books, long conversations and unhurried mornings are all part of the experience.
This is not a conventional hotel. Castelul Maria is for travellers who value character over uniformity, quiet over crowds, and places that still have a soul.
