Description
Casa Bătrână is an old traditional wooden house, restored with an eye for tradition and e feel for the demands of the modern traveler.
The house is located in the secluded village of Zece Hotare, in the Padurea Craiului Mountains. Built somewhere in the 1930s , this is one of the oldest wooden houses still standing in the village. Hence the name, “Casa Bătrână”, which literally means “the old house.
Together with Casa Stramba, Casa Marie-Jose and Dolina Glamping, make for our small vacation park, Dolina Village.
Between 1.05.2024 and 06.05.2024 the minimum length of stay is 4 nights.
Between 21.06 and 24.06.2024 and 15.08 and 18.08 the minimum length of stay is 3 nights.
Location and surroundings
Padurea Craiului Mountains are the north-western part of the larger Apuseni Mountains and are a exellent destination for nature lovers. Whether you love long, easy walks in the nature or are and adventurer going for rafting or rock climbing, this region has it all. Because these are limestone mountains, you can put caves on the list of spectacular sights of the area.
Among the more popular caves here are the Meziad Cave and the Wind Cave (Vântului). Zece Hotare is a secluded hamlet, tucked in between the forests and hills of the Zece Hoare Plateau. Casa Bătrână lays five minutes away from the heart of the village, where you can find a tiny grocery store for basic products.
The closest village with a trainstation and bigger store is Suncuius, within seven kilometers from the lodge. The closest airports are the ones in Cluj and Oradea.
Services
Casa Bătrână can host up to four people in two rooms. The bedroom is equipped with a confortable double bed and the living-room/kitchen has an extendable sofa-bed with good matresses. On request, we can provide a baby-bed.
The bathroom with shower is placed between the two rooms. In the cold season, we use wood to warm up the house. The small fireplace in the kitchen is connected to the floor heating, running through the whole house.
In the kitchen you will find all you need to prepare a proper meal: dishes, gas burner, a fridge with freezer. A dishwasher is also available. Outside, you can use the provided BBQ.
Upon arrival, the fridge will be filled with local suplies for breakfast such as fresh cheese, eggs, vegetables, milk. The exact type of food will depend on the season. On request, we can organize lunch or dinner at local homes or get the local cooks to deliver traditonal menus at the house.
Accesibility
Zece Hotare is accesible by car via Suncuius. The last two kilometers to the house are gravel road. The road is in good state thus accesible for (almost) all cars and motorcycles.
Parking is on the grass, on a plateau at 100m distance from the house. On request we can pick you up from the trainstations in Suncuius or Bratca or the airports in Cluj and Oradea.

Loved it
From the first time I set foot there, I knew I would return, and so I did, another 3 times already. It all makes you feel so at peace, from the old house with a perfect reading porch to the funny animals that just pop by to check out the new people. I think I like everything about this place, the warm terracotta floors, the delicious breakfast options, the lovely dishwasher, the hills behind the house and the forest in front. It's all infused with a lot of good vibes. They even pick you up from the train station, all you need to do is ask.
De poveste
Vacanta de poveste, într-o casuta de basm! ????
M-am simțit minunat in hamacele din nuc, la gura sobei in casa sau in linistea și aerul curat de pe dealurile dimprejur.
Linistea și odihna pe care le-am trăit la Casa Batrana, nu imi amintesc sa le mai fi găsit de curând in alta parte.
Totul amintește de vacantele la bunici din copilărie. Un plus mare mare pt mine, a fost faptul ca am avut voie sa iau și catelul, care si-a găsit acolo mulți prieteni catei, care la rândul lor mi-au făcut zilele petrecute, mai frumoase. Erau toți atât de draguti si sociabili ????
Si nu in ultimul rand, le mulțumesc gazdelor pt amabilitate, bineînțeles! Si pt bunătățile lasate in frigider! ????
Locatia perfecta pentru relaxare
Locatia este perfecfa,am fost primiti si am gasit o casuta superba ,traditionala,curata si o zona linistita si superba. Merita din llin alegerea locatiei. Este foarte relaxant si frumos.
Un loc excepțional
N-am trăit până acum nicăieri o asemenea experiență autentică. Am fost cazat în multe locuri, dar liniștea și starea de relaxare oferite de această căsuță nu au termen de comparație. Zona e liniștită, perfectă pentru a te deconecta de la stresul de zi cu zi.
O să revenim cu drag cât de repede putem :).

Traditional comfort
Traditional, super clean; floor heating adds a magic touch. Functional kitchen and walk in shower for two :)). Bed linens are simply gorgeous. Fresh BIO eggs, cheese, sourcream and other goodies are in your fridge for breakfast, just lovely. Hosts are young, super friendly and they have acomodated all our needs. We will definitely come back.
