Step off the beaten track and embark on a full day 4WD adventure in the Ciuc and Hasmas Mountains starting your tour from Miercurea Ciuc. Besides the stunning scenery, you will meet on the route local people and you will be witness of their traditional way of living, scenic lookout points and thrilling wilderness routes.
We pass through small villages, hidden valleys and along mountain ridges giving you a unique experience with great photo opportunities. For lunch you can choose between picnic in nature or freshly baked trout at a local family. Optionally, you can enjoy an easy 3-hour hiking in the rocky Hasmas Mountains, visiting a Carpathian sheepfold or a guided via ferrata tour in the Bicaz Gorges.
Your adventure tour starts in Miercurea Ciuc where your guide awaits you to set off with a 4×4 vehicle into the mountains and forests of the Eastern Carpathians. Depending on the season and on the weather conditions first you will ride on the wilderness trails of the Pagan Mountain (1350 m) and the Naskalat Mountain (1553 m) where you will enjoy great lookout points to the Ciuc Basin, then continue your tour along the bare ridge of the Naskalat Mountain, pass through Tarcau glade, then get to the border of the Bicaz Gorges – Hasmas National Park where you have picnic from local products and go on a 2-3 hour easy trekking tour to the top of the 1707 m high Ecem Peak.
From the craggy ridge of the Ecem Mountains you can enjoy the silence and a great panorama over the surrounding mountains. When you get back to the car, continue your trip riding on remote forest routes and through mountain traditional areas to the small dispersed village of Haromkut. Here you can witness the traditional way of living and taste locally raised fresh trouts served by a local family. In the surroundings of the village you may meet horses, sheep and oxen flocks grazing, guarded by shepherds.
From Haromkut head to the breathtaking Bicaz Gorges riding along the picturesque Bicajel Valley with wooden houses and haystacks, dense forests and small waterfalls. After admiring the massive gorges and a short walk along Red Lake or a guided via ferrata tour, a 1,5-hour ride follows back to Miercurea Ciuc through the dispersed mountain farms of Covacipeter located at 1325 m altitude where you can also visit the spring of the Olt River.
