At Home – Yoga Retreat & Glamping is a retreat centre located at the edge of a forest, on a hill, where you can enjoy a spectacular view over the surrounding area. It was created by us in 2020, in the garden and orchard of our boutique styled home.
Our centre is destined for people who love being outdoor, seek a peaceful atmosphere and who want to take part in the daily Yoga sessions and other activities.
“At Home – Yoga Retreat & Glamping” is a family run retreat centre. Your hosts are Masha (Romanian) and Paul (Dutch). We run continuous outdoor Yoga retreats during the summer months (May until September/October). This means we don’t have fix retreat dates. Basically, you can come and leave when it suits you.
We also rent the whole facility to groups who come with their own Yoga instructor. Contact us for further details!
We have a personal and flexible approach in our style of hosting, trying to make you feel at home, like we do. Apart from a business, for us, our Retreat Center represents a way of life. That is why we generally don’t do other retreats than Yoga or adjacent activities (Pilates, Meditation, etc). Basically we do retreats we personally like. We also do not do B&B or just accommodation providing. In order for you to feel “at home”, we usually don’t charge you extra for anything once in our Retreat (bicycles, extra meal, or other services).
• The Glamping is designed by Masha Verhoogt, a price winning interior designer.
• In the orchard we have a total of 5 luxury canvas tents: two tents have 1 double bed, one tent has 1 double bed and 1 single bed, 2 tents have 1 double bed and 2 single beds.
– All the tents are placed on custom built wooden platforms.
– All the tents have electric plugs (220V), light, electric heating and heated mattress pads, so inside the bed you always will be nice and warm.
– Two of the tents have private terraces at tree crown level, with an unique view.
• We have 1 room available in the villa. It has 1 double bed and can be rented under certain circumstances.
• The bathroom is a spacious “Bali style” common bathroom with a Forest view – 3 large shower cabins (thermostatic water taps), 3 toilets and 3 sinks. It has a very bohemian feel to it and is the kind of place you would like to sit down and have a coffee (as Paul sometimes does).
• For the yoga sessions we built a large wooden platform (16x6m) with an incredible view over the garden, the valley and the surrounding hills. It is equipped with 2 retractable awnings to provide shade in daytime.
• Outdoor patio and outdoor kitchen for serving our meals, equipped with 3 retractable awnings for shade and rain protection when needed.
• An outdoor mobile fireplace
• Shady garden pavilion for relaxing, having a tea or working on laptop.
• In the orchard we have hammocks, daybeds as well as 2 canopy swing chairs
• In the villa we have a ground floor indoor space that includes the kitchen and a working / relaxing lounge
• In case of poor weather we offer access to the first floor, our boutique style “rain lounge”.
• Free WiFi high speed internet (fiber-optics)
Each day we have 2 yoga sessions and 1 Pranayama session a day outside, on a wooden deck specially created for this with a superb view.
– 1 Yoga session in the morning, before breakfast/brunch at about 8.00am and one in the evening, before dinner at about 17.00pm. In the morning a Pranayama session is integrated.
– If it rains, which can happen – especially in spring time – we move the Yoga session to a dry period of the day. So far we never had to cancel a Yoga session because of the weather. The climate is fairly dry and in summertime; rain generally comes with thunderstorms which don’t last very long. If the group is small we can even move the Yoga session inside, but we try to avoid that as people specifically enjoy the outdoor aspect of our retreat.
We also have a few mountain bikes that you can use (no charge) and explore the area. Masha has the habit taking a half an hour (or hour) ride before the morning Yoga session and you are welcome to join her.
About 3 times a week we do a hike (1,5 hour) to a nearby viewing point, so bring comfortable walking shoes.
You can also explore the following destinations – by train, car or taxi:
– Brasov, the capital of Transylvania (70km, 1.5h by train)
– Sinaia, with the superb Neo-Renaissance Peles Castle, (27km, 30min by train)
– Busteni and Bucegi mountians (30km, 40min by train)
– Sinaia, Busteni (and Brasov) have a cable car that will get you high up in the mountains.
– It is easy and cheap to get around with Uber/Bolt in the city of Brasov.
– We will provide drop off / pick up at and from the Breaza train station without charge.
In our short existence, the meals we serve have gained a strong reputation. Many guests qualified our buffet breakfast as “the best they ever had”.
• Breakfast/Brunch and dinner are prepared in our kitchen and included in the price.
• Breakfast/Brunch is served as a buffet.

MASHA VERHOOGT
I have practiced different forms of Yoga for over 15 years. In 2020 I got my Yoga teacher license (Indian Yoga Academy).
Apart from Yoga, I practice a lot of other disciplines, like Pranayama.
I am a psychologist and triple-certified NLP and Life Coach. I am also a well-established interior designer in Romania.
Together with my husband Paul I own, manage and host the center.
My main motto is: “preach what you practice”.
At Home – Yoga Retreat & Glamping is located at the edge of a small town, Breaza. It is about a 1.15-hour drive away from Bucharest and about 2 hours by train from the airport.
Breaza is famous for its air quality, rich in negative ions and a high ozone content, often being compared to Davos in the Swiss Alps.
Our retreat lies at a height of about 650m in the vicinity of the Bucegi mountains. This makes the weather cooler and very pleasant during the usually hot summer months.
You will have some interesting places to visit in the area, like the superb Peles, a Neo-Renaissance castle in Sinaia (27km away), the Bucegi mountains (30km away), or the capital city of Transylvania, Brasov (70km).
Arrival by train
To get to our place from the airport, you can take the train right on the “Henri Coanda” Airport
– Take the train from “Henri Coanda Airport” to Bucharest “Gara de Nord” (about 30 minutes).
– Then take the train from Bucharest “Gara de Nord” to “Breaza hc.” (about 1-1.5 hour)
train schedule: https://mytrain.ro/en/legaturi/bucuresti-nord/breaza-hc/
Pick-up from Breaza train station is assured by us without extra cost.
Please contact us for any further information or requests!
Arrival by car
Breaza is about an 1.5 hour drive from Bucharest. The roads are mostly 4 lanes and partly highway.
Important!
– When coming by car/cab guided by Google Maps (or Waze), in Breaza, just before reaching our Retreat Centre, avoid taking “Strada Bucegi” street. This road is very steep and in a poor state. You should turn left before the park on “Strada Ocinei” street.
– Parking space is very limited at our centre. We recommend that before you park, you drop off your luggage when you arrive. You will have parking space at a 7 minutes walk. We reserve 1 parking spot for people that carry a lot of equipment, like instructors that come with a group.
Please contact us for any further information or requests!
Arrival by taxi
From the airport to our Retreat Centre, an Uber/Bolt cab will cost you the equivalent of about 60-80 Euro (make your request from the parking in front of the exit as normal cars are not allowed in the pickup area).
