The Magic Cottage is a Homestay.
Situated in a peaceful village 3.5 kilometers from the famous Salina Praid and 15 kilometers from the beautiful spa town of Sovata, The Magic Cottage offers modern comfort in a newly renovated old traditional cottage. Set in an English style cottage garden, at the top of the village, guests can enjoy absolute peace and relaxation.
The loft has been converted into a spacious apartment with an extremely comfortable Queen size bed and a a luxurious bathroom with stand alone slipper bath and it's own terrace overlooking the garden and the forest.
There is another downstairs terrace for breakfast.
Guests are welcome to use the cottage kitchen. Please co-ordinate with Rosie and the kittens.
The guests have their own private entrance to the property. There is parking in the lane outside the cottage. I'm an experienced host. I'm living in a cabin on the property and I'm always available to assist guests.
The water supply can be interrupted in times of severe drought.
The last 750 meters of the road to the house is a rustic village lane.

where the magic begins
It is really one of the best places i have ever been, and is definitely the most relaxing one. The house and the garden are really nice. The house is nicely decorated, it keeps the local traditions with its traditional refurbished furniture and the Indian accents makes it unique. Rosie our host was lovely, we enjoyed chatting with her. She has a lot of funny and interesting tales.
I highly recommend a stay at The Magic Cottage, as I myself am looking forward to going back
Amazing
Magic Cottage is my favorite place in Transylvania. Everything looks like a fairytale, the house is nicely decorated, it keeps the local traditions with its traditional refurbished furniture and the Indian accents makes it unique.
The host, Rosie is amazing and it makes you feel like home from the moment you get there. Her cat, Miss Mikla is adorable and you will love her from the very first moment.
Each corner of the house is nicely arranged to make you feel good, it has a big bathroom with a bathtub which alongside the bath salts brought from Praid will make your bath feel so relaxing and an amazing terrace from where you can admire the surrounding nature. You can also sit in one of the hammocks from the courtyard where you can rest and avoid the heat.
I also loved the breakfast which was served in the courtyard, but you can also cook in the fully equipped kitchen that is at your disposal.
I will definitely come back to Magic Cottage each and every time I will feel the need for an escape in the nature.
Thank you Rosie for an amazing weekend and we will definitely see you again!
Amazing place, cozy at-home atmosphere
A wonderful place if you want to enjoy some peace and quiet, away from the everyday routine, into the middle of nature. Everything is well-organized, beautifully decorated in a mix of Indian, Romanian and Hungarian styles (the thing that struck me most when choosing this location), very clean, cozy and intimate. A unique bathtub and an amazing upstairs verandah, from where we admired views and sunsets.
We felt welcome by our host Rosie from the very first moment. She was very nice and helpful, making us feel at-home and chatting with us as she would with some close friends. She prepared a great breakfast, the kitchen being equipped with everything we needed to prepared our lunch and dinner.
Also, there are a lot of places to visit around Ocna de Jos, such as Praid (Salina Praid and the Butterfly House), Sovata and Bear Lake, Red Lake where you can go rowing, Corund, and plenty of great restaurants, all of which Rosie gave us tips about.
The best part: youșll always be in good company as Miss Mikla, Rosieșs cat, will quickly become your best friend around the cottage.
I highly recommend a stay at The Magic Cottage, as I myself am looking forward to going back with my friends next year!
It was lovely!
We had a lovely 3 nights stay. The cottage is so beautiful, we really enjoyed all the decorations and how pretty everything looked! It was clean and quiet, and very relaxing. We admired the hand painted furniture, and beautifully decorated rugs, bedding and pillows. The cottage had an upstairs veranda that we loved sitting in, for lunch and dinners. The breakfast was made by our host Rosie, and it was very good, with many options to pick from. For lunch and dinners we prepared food ourselves, using the kitchen in the cottage. We also enjoyed the garden! It had beautiful flowers, two hammocks, and plenty of room if you want to lay a blanket on the grass to read or bask in the sun. We took many walks around the village, towards the fields and hills and the forest. It was very quiet and beautiful, and we saw some amazing views from atop a hill not far from the cottage. Our host Rosie was lovely, we enjoyed chatting with her. Her cat Mikla was also adorable and very affectionate. We'd totally recommend it and we'd love to return! We initially only booked 2 night but we loved it so much, we decided to stay for a 3rd!
