Maramures is one of the best preserved communities of Europe, its old traditions and customs being maintained like nowhere else. Traditional houses, hundreds of years old, liven up the place and pass the stories of our ancients to the next generations.
Our house is an old Maramures house, recently restored to offer our guests the best accommodation conditions. While restoring, we did our best to keep the archaic charm and improve it by colourful elements which bring happiness to those that cross our threshold.
Casa lu’ Ion is ideal for a group of 6 people, having 3 double rooms, each one with its own bathroom (the bathrooms have WC and shower). The dining room is spacious and ideal for culinary feasts, team games or story telling while having a glass of horinca, by the fireside, on a cold winter day. The kitchen is equipped with all you need even for an extended stay (electric hob, toaster, coffee machine, crockery, plates, dish washing machine).
If you choose to spend your time at our place, you can opt for breakfast at Talhaus pension, which is nearby, by reserving it in advance. This is not included in the accommodation price. The rest of the meals will be cooked by you, inside, or in the garden patio. It has a barbecue and a spacious table.
The forest which surrounds us offers privacy and marvelous sceneries, no matter the season. The spring that crosses our garden also contributes to the guaranteed privacy. We consider it to be the best remedy to charge your batteries which are so low by the nowadays lifestyle. Even though we recommend an offline holiday, we are prepared for those who can’t separate from the news. We offer free wifi access and TVs in every bedroom.
If you come to Viseu de Sus, don’t forget about the Mocanita ride. This is the last steam locomotive, powered by wood fire that still works in Europe. The railway route, built in 1932, spreads on 60 km, starting from Viseu de Sus and going to Valea Vaserului.
